Frequently Asked Questions.
There are lots of questions when you are looking for a timber building. Below are a few of the most frequent. There are more questions and answers specific to each building type on each of the relevant pages.
Absolutely! Our workshop is in Kent but we deliver and install Nationwide.
Delivery and Installation is always included in your price unless you have chosen the DIY option. That is why we ask for your postcode when you submit your quote request.
You can choose to have your building delivered and install it yourself or you are welcome to collect it as a DIY kit. Our sales team will be happy to tell you the cost of delivery and/or installation to help you decide.
Fixed static timber buildings need to be on a concrete base and should be raised off the ground by a single course of bricks. We will provide a base plan which clearly shows the plan and measurements which you can give to the team who will be preparing the base. We have our own team of groundworkers who can help you, or if you are outside of their working area then it is likely we will know somebody local who we can recommend. Give our team a call, they will be happy to help and advise.
The most frequently asked question!
Some buildings do and some do not. Mobile Stables and Field Shelters usually do not need planning but Fixed Stables and Field Shelters might do. It usually depends on location and of course size. Residential buildings such as Garages and Workshops often don't need planning depending on height and distance from the house and the property boundary. American Barns almost certainly need planning permission.
Rules vary with area so, with all timber buildings, it is best to check with your local planning authority.
Our brief Guide To Planning might help to begin with.
We provide a five year Workmanship Guarantee on all of our Timber Buildings. You can see the overview of the Guarantee here and you can speak to a member of our team who will gladly explain the details.
Not really, no. It is possible but we would not recommend it.
Firstly, the roof shape and structure needs to be made differently to support the weight if slate or clay tiles. Secondly, the additional weight will then impede the ability to easily move the building around.
On the whole we limit slate or clay tiles on roofs to static buildings and only put either Onduline or Onduvilla on mobile buildings.
